History of
"GAMBLER"

Gambler at Wembley
Two of us from the original band decided it was time to break
out on our own, and hence "GAMBLER" formed.
After two years of playing locally, we decided to go
professional and that meant touring all over the UK.
I
was the Lead Vocalist (the front man) and bass player, later
playing rhythm guitar with "Gambler".
For 12 years the band toured the country appearing at many
Major Country Festivals (including Wembley Silk Festival), also
doing recording work for BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio Scotland.
"Gambler" recorded three albums. The band won the ‘Scottish
Country Music Fellowship Band of the Year’, for 2 years
running. We were also backing band for BBC Scotland DJ Gerry
Ford for two years.
My Favourite "Gambler" Memories
Supporting Billie Jo Spears at Stornaway.
Playing at the numerous Country Festival’s throughout Britain.
Backing Gerry Ford on a Cruise Ship which left Dover bound for
Sweden on a 3 day round trip.
Recording songs with Gerry Ford for the BBC Radio 2 show, ‘Night
Ride’, and recording live for BBC Radio Scotland at the Royal
Ingilston Horticultural Show.
Making our first album, this was a best seller.
We appeared four times, on The Best of British stage at the
Wembley Conference Centre. Our fourth performance was on the
main stage at Wembley Arena with an all Elgin 5-piece band. We
shared the stage with such artists as Tammy Wynette, Crystal
Gayle, Johnny Cash and a host of other American stars (a magical
experience).
